Lets Dream A little bit...

Micah 6:8 says, "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

We, as a group seek to do this, to walk humbly with God, growing as learners, lovers and givers, considering what it means to act justly and love mercy in the world around us. As we are preparing to launch out new groups I would love for us to take some time to dream about how God is calling us.

Consider this a brain storm session:

How would you like to see God's Kingdom move forward over the next 6 months?
  • Think about where you see needs in the world around you, in Raleigh, spiritual needs, physical needs, emotional needs.
  • Think about where you see needs in relationships within and outside of the church
  • Think about where you see God already working
There are no limits to the options that we can consider... it would be great to hear a couple of ideas from everyone...

Well, I'm honestly occilating over a wide range of thoughts that range from wanting to punt to wanting to host. But that's probably just me.

My vision? My dreams? My thoughts for the next 6 months:

I dream of a wider range of theological and ideological sub-communities within the church, and I dream of a church that can stop talking about how post-modern the world is. IT'S NOT!! People just aren't buying it all. Can we have the wacked-out liberal homegroup? Can we have the "I don't really buy it all" homegroup?

I dream of diversity: communities of friends that are more mixed in marital or relationship status. Dog, I miss single friends. I miss my openly gay Christian friend. (I wish I had an openly lesbian friend. Or is that "openly gay lesbian friend"?)

I dream of Martinis at homegroup.

I dream of inviting my other friends to come as they are and not having to worry about a thing.

You asked for dreams, not plans, right?! :)

I have alot in my heart about this and with just reading it i just want to say I look forward to going in the Community around our church and helping people in need. There are soo many people that need SMALL things done.. To them its a BIG thing in their lives.. Whether its painting, cleaning, watching their kids for a few hours why the SINGLE mom goes out to get things done, or just things like that. To them its a BIG thing but to us it might seem like a SMALL thing and something we can help with. I got alot more on my heart i will think and pray about and either post or talk in person.. But I am deff. Going to be the Merifcul person in a new group!

I dont know what i totally want to do with my life byt Helping people is what i want to do! Ok for now God bless!!

I look forward to building more intimate relationships with people and with God.

I hope that being part of a smaller group will make it easier to actually give more on a regular basis and foster these more intimate relationships.

I think we have people who are passionate about changing so many things about this world and I hope that these smaller groups will allow us to make a small or big difference in each of those.

I will be sad to not see everyone every Thursday because I love any opportunity to socialize so I hope that as we do get larger we have more opportunities to do things as large groups as well (like the church picnic).

And I do agree with Chewie that I hope as we break off we can become more diverse and we can reach more people of every walk of life.
